X-Yachts announce newcomer

This Danish boat builder has announced the third model in its new X range. It’s a 49-footer intended to incorporate the best elements from both the Xcruising range and the Xperformance range into a civilized performance cruiser. The concept has proved successful to date, with the 43ft and 65ft models selling more than 50 units in their first year of production.

The X4_9 has a very low centre of gravity keel with a heavy lead bulb, epoxy infused construction and a triple spreader mast with rod rigging. Ample tankage below the floorboards helps keep weight low, while the folding propeller and recessed hull skin fittings will help keep the boat moving in light airs when other long distance cruisers all too often have to resort to their engines.

The three cabin interiors have a large owner’s suite forward of the main bulkhead, full width saloon and very well appointed L-shape galley. Initial drawings show a choice of either a small aft-facing navigation station on the starboard side of the saloon, or a full size forward-facing chart table. The latter is at the expense of a separate shower stall in the aft heads compartment. Aft cabins can be arranged either as doubles, with huge almost rectangular beds, or as twins. As standard joinery is in light oak, with an option of teak for a more classic appearance.

The deck layout has the now standard arrangement with key sail handling controls taken to the twin wheels at the back of the cockpit area, leaving the seating forward free for guests and entertaining. Stowage is well provided, including a transverse garage for a 2.7m tender, large foredeck sail locker and liferaft stowage below the cockpit sole.

The first 10 boats are offered at an introductory price of €479,900, including the builders Quality Package that normally costs an additional €75,500. The new X4_9 will debut at the Düsseldorf Boat Show in January 2018.
